JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teenage boy died after being shot on Sunday night on Jacksonville's Westside.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting victim at a shopping plaza, located at 103rd Street and Ricker Road. The scene was near the Little Caesar's and Publix.
Police found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot. He was declared dead at the scene, officials said.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred at a nearby park where several teenagers were hanging out. Three of them drove to the plaza after the shooting before calling for help.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The victim has not been identified. This is an active investigation.
