JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police responded to a reported shooting in Downtown Jacksonville on Sunday evening.
When officers arrived around 6:45 p.m., they found a man with at least one gunshot wound in a parking lot at North Pearl and West Forsyth Street. He was declared dead at the scene.
Officials said the victim was in his late 20's. His identity has not been released.
The incident took place near the popular restaurant Whispers Crab House and Oyster Bar.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said they have a person of interest in custody but no one has officially been declared a suspect for the murder, at this time.
There were multiple witnesses to the shooting who are cooperating with officials.
It is unclear what lead to the shooting. No further information about the investigation was immediately available.
