GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Glynn County man was found dead inside of his home after his wife was seen "wandering barefoot" nearby beforehand, according to a news release from the Glynn County Police Department.
The police department says at 11:53 a.m., Glynn County patrol officers received a call in reference to a welfare check on an elderly woman identified as 67-year-old Margaret Sullivan, who was seen wandering in the area of Frederica Road and Sylvan Boulevard.
Officers made contact with Sullivan at Glynn County Fire Rescue Station No. 4, after a "concerned citizen" took her there as police say she appeared uninjured, the release states. Next, officers took Sullivan back to her home located at 98 Shore Rush Dr. in St. Simons Island, the release states, and were attempting to contact her husband for assistance while on the way. Upon entering the home, Sullivan's husband, 66-year-old Lawrence Francis Sullivan was found dead, the release states.
The police department says Glynn County Major Crimes Unit, crime scene investigators and the Glynn County Coroner's Office responded to assist with the death investigation.
Police say Margaret Sullivan was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick where she is being "treated and evaluated" while Lawrence Sullivan, was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
The police department says at this time, the cause and manner of death of Lawrence Sullivan are unknown as the investigation is active and ongoing.
