BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Two firefighters are recovering after they were hurt while battling a fire inside a Brunswick house Saturday night, according to Glynn County Fire Rescue.
Around 7:45 p.m., a crew responded to the 1900 block of Fifth Street in Brunswick regarding smoke in the area.
When they arrived, the crew requested a full-alarm dispatch after they found a home on fire.
After going inside the home looking for potential victims, a flashover trapped two firefighters inside.
A "mayday" was then called, GCFR said.
A flashover is described as when combustible materials within an enclosed area catch fire simultaneously.
The firefighters were able to escape the home but both sustained burn injuries.
They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
