FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- U.S. Marshals shot and killed a man Wednesday morning while they attempted to deliver an arrest warrant.
Witnesses and family say the Marshals arrived at the back door, got five children out of the home, then went in shooting.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office reports they joined the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Bunnell to deliver a fugitive warrant on 24-year-old Corey Levert Tanner on Espanola Drive in Bunnell.
Tanner was wanted by Bunnell Police for attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Tanner's mother, Brenda Williams, says her son was unarmed when officers arrived at the home. She doesn't understand why her son was shot multiple times and said, "I want to find out. They didn't give him a chance."
Williams also said her son was bi-polar and would act-out when he was off of his medication.
Tanner's girlfriend, Mattie Verdell, said he texted her Wednesday morning, telling her he loved her and to never forget him.
U.S. Marshals confirm Tanner was alone in the home at the time of the shooting, but have not commented further.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating. U.S. Marshals report no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
