A lockdown at Fort Eisenhower ended Saturday morning after a fatal shooting in on-post housing claimed the life of one individual.
Officials confirmed that the shooter was apprehended and described the incident as isolated. The victim’s identity has not been released, as officials are waiting to notify the family.
The lockdown, initiated earlier in the morning, was lifted at approximately 9:45 a.m. when the post issued an all-clear and reopened its gates. Officials emphasized their commitment to supporting the victim’s family and assisting anyone affected by the tragedy.
"The safety of our residents and personnel remains our primary concern," the post said in part.
Officials have not released any other information about the shooting.
