CALLAHAN, Fla. -- The Florida Forest Service worked about a dozen prescribed burns on the First Coast on Thursday, including a 200-acre one in Four Creeks State Forest in Nassau County, authorities confirmed.
Nassau County Fire Rescue Chief Matt Graves told First Coast News towering smoke that could be seen over the forest off State Road 200 in Callahan was coming from a prescribed burn conducted by foresters.
FFS dispatchers said the burn covers approximately 208 acres.
