Florida man suspected of burglary hides alligator in getaway car

The alligator was found once deputies arrested Grant Davis Belcher, 32, and Megan Forbes, 30, after Belcher was seen allegedly attempting to burglarize a truck in the Sandy Creek subdivision.

A baby alligator was found Sunday with its mouth taped shut in the back seat of a suspected burglar's getaway car, according to Orange County Deputies.

The alligator was found once deputies arrested Grant Davis Belcher, 32, and Megan Forbes, 30, after Belcher was seen allegedly attempting to burglarize a truck in the Sandy Creek subdivision.

Deputies said Belcher was seen walking around a Ford F350 in front of a business at a round 3 a.m. The truck's cabin light came on and deputies said Belcher took off running upon hearing the vehicles' alarm.

He then got into a white Chevy Impala allegedly driven by Forbes, and the two drove through two gates and onto school property, according to deputies.

Once the suspects were apprehended, deputies conducted a search of the Impala and found a baby alligator inside of a trash can with its mouth taped closed.

Belcher has been charged with burglary to a conveyance, alligator poaching and trespassing on school grounds. Forbes has denied any involvement.
