Floodwaters in Englewood neighborhood seep into homes and leaves cars damaged

Neighbors on Revelstoke Drive in the Englewood area woke up to their cars submerged in flood waters and water seeping inside their homes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Flooding could be seen all over different parts of the First Coast Wednesday.

On Revelstoke Drive in the Englewood area, neighbors found themselves stuck inside their homes after their entire street flooded.

For 20 years, Rob Gainey has lived on Revelstoke Drive and he said flooding here has never been this bad.

“This water just kept coming and coming I’ve never seen water like this around here," he said, “Our entire yard front and back and sides were flooded.”

Gainey's neighbor, Rachel Cho was headed out the door to school Wednesday morning.

“As soon as I opened the door, oh my, the car was flooded the whole area was flooded," said Cho.

However, Cho wasn't able to make it out the door because she physically couldn't get in her submerged car.

“Checked my car inside and the engine inside the car was flooded really bad. Yep, it’s totally damaged," she said.

She's just one of many neighbors with cars damaged.

"We been trying to get round here to get to it but the water was so high we couldn’t get no further," said another neighbor who had to call a tow service for her dead car.

As the neighborhood continued flooding, water soon began seeping into homes.

“I said, 'Oh my gosh' and some of it came in through the house through the back," said Charles Jones, "You’re watching things on the porch float around and I’m looking at it get higher and higher.”

As for what's caused the flooding to be this severe, some neighbors think they may know why.

"I think maybe there’s some drainage issues that need to be fixed," said Jones.
