Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach on lockdown following 'possible shooting' threat

In the communication message shared to parents Wednesday morning, Principal Ledford says the threat was made through an anonymous tip.

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — Fletcher High School in Neptune Beach is currently on lockdown Wednesday after the school shared a communication message with parents stating that a "possible shooting" threat was made.

In the message shared to parents, Principal Dean Ledford says the threat was made through an anonymous tip. The Neptune Beach Police Department told First Coast News that they are investigating the tip that was received via Fortify FL.

As a precaution, Ledford says the school will operate on a "lockout" today and will have additional police presence at the school as well. As normal, the school will be using their "Evolv weapons detection systems at in-take," Ledford says.

"Again, I want you to be aware of this situation and the precautions we are taking," Ledford said in the message to parents. "I appreciate your patience and partnership as we work to keep our school secure and our students and staff safe. Thanks again. Have a great morning."
