WHAT WE FOUND
Kemp signed an executive order on Aug. 20 to lower flags to half-staff on Wednesday, Aug. 21, in recognition of National Fentanyl Prevention Awareness Day.
In the order, it states that overdose deaths involving fentanyl among teens between 2019 and 2021 had doubled across the country.
"To remember those lost to fentanyl overdose, show support for grieving families, and increase awareness about the risks of fentanyl, it is fitting and proper to lower the flags on all State buildings and grounds to half-staff," Kemp said in the order.
Flags were ordered to be flown until sunset on Wednesday.
