BLACKSHEAR, Ga. — A firefighter was killed when a tree fell on his vehicle during Tropical Storm Helene, the Pierce County Fire Department confirmed.
The firefighter died early Friday morning while traveling in the city of Blackshear.
PCFD did not confirm whether it was his personal vehicle or a fire truck.
The department is currently sheltering from the storm.
While Helene had been downgraded to a tropical storm as of 5 a.m., the storm's effects continue to be felt in Southeast Georgia.
