Fire forces evacuation of building on UF campus

Fire forced the evacuation of the University of Florida's Norman Hall Monday, Sept. 14, 2020.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida's emergency notification Twitter account urged people to evacuate a College of Education building Monday night due to a fire.

The tweet urged people to avoid the area of Norman Hall.

About 45 minutes later a second tweet said the fire had been contained by heavy smoke was still affecting the area, which should still avoided.

The building is at 618 SW 12th St.
