JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It is overwhelming at first sight. The Morocco Shrine Auditorium filled with several football fields worth of items.
"I personally put all the racks up and we have five football fields of clothing racks," said John Sadie. "There's about 40,000 items of clothing that are in here."
But it's not just clothing you'll find here.
It's shoes, bikes, games and more, all new or gently used for kids ages newborn to 12.
And all of it is 70 to 80 percent off the retail price.
"The clothing items that retail for $20, $30, some of them are as low as $3, $4 and $5. ... We actually sold some bicycles that were 100, 120 dollars new for as low as 20, 30 dollars," said First Coast mom Michelle Patterson shopping for her 11-month-old daughter Zoe.
"She's getting really big, really fast. And I hate paying full price for anything."
But the savings aren't the only reason she's here.
Patterson is one of hundreds of First Coast parents who've donated their stuff to the Finders Keepers consignment sale to help other families save money.
Patterson herself knows how much every dollar counts.
"It's incredible. It makes a huge difference," she said. "We're a one income family, and we have two. I have an older son, he's 10. So we have two extremes, one age to the other."
She's urging other families on a budget to come give consignment a try.
"This is just a really good way to the most of your money. I know a lot of people are really tight these days."
