NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, Fla. — A 20-year-old man from Colorado died Tuesday night after rear-ending a semi-truck on State Road 200 in Nassau County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP's crash report says at 11:37 p.m., the 20-year-old who was driving a sedan, and a 41-year-old man who was driving the semi-truck, were both traveling eastbound on SR-200, east of Chester Road in the center lane.
Troopers say after the sedan hit the back of the semi-truck, both vehicles came to final rest in the center lane, facing east.
The 20-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP; the man who was driving the semi-truck did not suffer any injuries.
Several witnesses said the 20-year-old "passed them at a high rate of speed, prior to the crash," the report states.
