FHP: 2 women killed in Columbia County multi-vehicle crash

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were killed in a Wednesday night crash in Columbia County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

FHP said a SUV, containing a 72-year-old Fort White woman and a 64-year-old Fort White woman, was heading south on U.S. Highway 441 and crossed into the northbound lane approaching County Road 778 around 8:50 p.m.

The SUV sideswiped a pickup truck stopped in the left turn lane facing north at the intersection with County Road 778 and struck another truck head-on.

The victims were pronounced dead at different hospitals, FHP said. The report said they were not wearing seatbelts.

The sideswiped truck's driver was not injured and the driver of the truck hit head-on received minor injuries.
