JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The father of a teen shot and killed in February near a Moncrief apartment complex has filed a lawsuit against the apartment management company.
Adrian Gainer Jr.,16, was killed near the Hilltop Village Apartments, which is near St. Clair Evans Academy.
Gainer's parents told First Coast News he was walking home from school when he was struck by a bullet.
The teen's father, Adrian Gainer Sr. is suing the apartment management company, Cambridge Management, Inc., for failing to provide a safe premise knowing that it's a trouble spot for criminal activity, according to the lawsuit filing.
Southern Financial Services, Inc. is also named in the lawsuit.
No arrests have been made in Gainer Jr.'s death.
