JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the 4500 block of Baymeadows Road Thursday night when he struck a truck pulling a trailer, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The motorcyclist was a 25-year-old man, whose death marks the 11th fatal motorcycle accident and the 85th overall traffic fatality in Jacksonville.
Around 7:15 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Baymeadows Road. The pickup truck and trailer crossed the road and was blocking all eastbound lanes and the center lane, JSO said.
The motorcyclist hit the truck and was thrown from the bike. He landed in the street.
He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
JSO says the motorcyclist could not have avoided the truck without going into oncoming traffic, unless he had been able to come to a safe stop.
The truck driver showed no signs of impairment.
The crash is currently under investigation.
