Family says Jacksonville man shot, killed on the way to Dec. 4 Jaguars game

Bruce Wilson was shot and killed on Jacksonville's Northside near the intersection of Edgewood Avenue West & Bunker Hill Boulevard, leaving a grieving family behind.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The family of a Jacksonville man shot and killed one week ago says he was on his way to the Jaguars game when he lost his life.

Bruce Wilson was shot and killed on Jacksonville's Northside near the intersection of Edgewood Avenue West and Bunker Hill Boulevard on December 4. His cousin says his death has devastated anyone who knew him.

"He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved the Jaguars. He loved the eat," Wilson's Cousin Ciara said.

Bruce Wilson was known as the life of the party and for 'Fresh Cut Fridays.'

"Every Friday afternoon he had a set appointment with his barber. He went and got his hair cut every Friday. He will show you his before and his after to let you know that he looked good," Ciara said.

Wilson's cousin Ciara says he was born and raised in Jacksonville and loved the Jaguars.

"The day he passed, he was on his way to the Jaguars game. That was something he did every Sunday. He was very excited about Monday Night Football like everyone else," Ciara said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says three men were shot on the Northside near the intersection of Edgewood and Bunker Hill that day. One of those men, who family members identify as Wilson, was killed. The other two victims were taken to the hospital with injuries. Police say witnesses described seeing a white Dodge Charger pull into the parking lot of the BP gas station and at least three people fired shots. JSO says rifles were used. Ciara says their family is trying to process Wilson's death.

"You go to seeing someone smiling, always picking on you, always having something good to say. He's going to make sure he tells you he loves you. He's going to tell you he's proud of you. You've got someone that's here one day, that is a walk of life and now he's no longer here. That would devastate any household," Ciara said.

Ciara says her non-profit, the K.I.N.G Foundation, focuses on supporting children who have lost their parents to unforeseen circumstances in Jacksonville. She says Wilson didn't have kids but was active in the lives of his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

"We just need to think before we act. Put the guns down. Think about the lives that this affected afterwards," Ciara said.
