Man arrested on stalking charge in St. Johns County after following woman and child home from store, police say

Eugene Jackson reportedly told deputies it "aroused him to follow women with the hopes of having physical contact with them."

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man is in custody after St. Johns County deputies say he followed a woman and her child home Tuesday from a Dollar General location in Murabella.

Eugene Lee Jackson, 28, was arrested by Special Victims Unit detectives Wednesday.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Jackson was observed on business and residential surveillance video following a woman and her 8-year-old daughter in the business. Police said he later approached her vehicle in her driveway when she arrived home.

The woman immediately drove away and contacted SJCSO, deputies said. Jackson later said in an interview with detectives that it "aroused him to follow women with the hopes of having physical contact with them."

A post from the victim's parent detailing Jackson's behavior was widely shared on social media, the release said.
