FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. -- A Fleming Island man turned himself in Thursday and now faces manslaughter charges in connection with the August death of a skateboarder.
Arthur Zimmerly, 27, is charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide for the death of Kyle Klocek, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
Troopers said a BMW motorcycle driven by Zimmerly was heading west on Bald Eagle Road near Lake Terrace Lane about 1 a.m. on Aug. 2 when it ran into Klocek, who was riding a skateboard. Zimmerly was ejected during the collision.
An arrest warrant says that Zimmerly was traveling between 71-80 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone at the time of the crash.
An FHP test found a blood alcohol content of .089 and .091 for Zimmerly, according to an arrest warrant.
Troopers said Klocek, 23, died as a result of injuries suffered during the crash. Zimmerly was taken to UF Health in critical condition.
As of Thursday afternoon, Zimmerly was held on bonds around $15,000.
