ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — An Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputy has been placed on administrative leave Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call Sunday involving Deputy Russell Lee Johnson that took place the previous night, according to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
A criminal investigation was opened and based on the initial reports, Johnson was placed on leave pending the outcome of the full investigation.
The investigation is being handled by the Alachua Police Department and an internal investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, Office of Professional Standards.
Johnson is a 20-year veteran with the Sheriff's Office and is assigned to the Court Security Bureau.
