Daughter, biological father reunite at Jaguars game

A daughter and her biological father met in March for the first time but recently spent more time together at the Jaguars game Sunday.

A daughter and her biological father, who met for the first time in March, reunited Sunday for the Jaguars game.

First Coast News brought you their story in April. Jeri Jo Fox used the ancestry website 23andMe and found Dave Rutherford matched as her father. Fox said she used Ancestry.com just to be sure, and she and Rutherford matched again. Fox reached out and the two met March 31.

“I know it was God’s timing, God’s plan, God’s purpose and everything has just unfolded very, very well and were just going with it,” Fox said.

Fox lives in Jacksonville and Rutherford lives in West Palm Beach. They said they try to meet up at least once a month. They’ve gone fishing, to the zoo and Rutherford met Fox’s husband and daughters. On Sunday, they went to the Jaguars vs. Saints game. They said they weren’t too worried about the score, though.

“I’m a Jags fan and he’s a Saints fan," Fox said. "We’re just trying to do stuff to catch up on memories because we have 53 years to catch up on.”

“Catch up is right,” Rutherford said.

Rutherford and Fox wore shirts Sunday that read “Thank You Ancestry” on the back. They said their next trip is planned for Orlando in November.
