A Starke Police Department officer resigned on Wednesday after he was arrested and charged with domestic battery.
Robert Todd Jordan, 37, who was a full-time employee for the police department for three years, reportedly got into an altercation with his girlfriend at their home on Nov. 20.
During the altercation, the Bradford County Sheriff's Office said Jordan pushed his girlfriend and that she almost fell on a baby. The girlfriend then grabbed the baby and another child inside the home and locked themselves in the bedroom. Jordan reportedly kicked the bedroom door down and pushed his girlfriend multiple times, according to the police report.
The police report says Jordan then grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and pushed her up against the wall. He let go of her, grabbed a gun and told her "she was not the killer he was while the gun was by his side," the police report states. The girlfriend was able to grab the end of the gun from him and the magazine fell out. She told police she kicked the magazine across the room.
She said the altercation continued and she grabbed a knife. His wrist was cut and she was able to get out, she told police.
Upon investigation, deputies said his girlfriend suffered multiple bruises.
Jordan was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony of aggravated assault with a violent weapon and a first-degree misdemeanor battery. He was placed on administrative leave, but he resigned on Wednesday.
