BRUNSWICK, Ga. — UPDATE: The Glynn County Board of Commissioners and the City of Brunswick implemented a curfew beginning midnight until Monday at 6 a.m. This comes after two days of curfews for the area hit by Hurricane Helene.

The curfew applies to all residents, with exceptions for anyone traveling to or from work or for medical reasons, according to officials.
The curfew applies to streets, highways, alleys sidewalks, vacant lots, parks, public buildings and other public spaces.
The curfew was in place from 9 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday for Brunswick and surrounding areas of unincorporated Glynn County, and Jekyll Island on Saturday night.
"This curfew is crucial for the safety of our residents and the responders dedicated to community restoration efforts," Mayor Cosby Johnson said.
Hurricane Helene passed by Brunswick as a Category 1 storm, bringing maximum wind gusts of 69 mph to the area.
