JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The coldest weather of January will be moving on Friday night and settling in for the weekend.

As a result, many places are opening a cold weather shelter as temperatures drop. Here's a list of available shelters.

FERNANDINA - A cold shelter will open in Fernandina over the weekend as temperatures drop. The Coalition for the Homeless will open the MLK Jr. Recreation Center, located at 1200 Elm Street, as a cold night shelter. The Shelter will be open starting Friday, Jan. 13 until Monday, Jan. 16, according to the City of Fernandina Beach.

JACKSONVILLE -  Due to the forecasted low temperatures, City Rescue Mission (CRM) will increase its overnight capacity as well as extend its hours to those in need of shelter. They will remain with us as long as the temperature is below 40 degrees. Guests seeking safe shelter may check in to City Rescue Mission’s New Life Inn (234 W. State Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202) beginning Saturday, January 14th at 1:00 p.m. All guests will receive a hot meal and will be offered access to showers and clean clothing. We are encouraging people to stay in for their safety during this cold weather.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH -  A cold night shelter will open in Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, January 14th at 4 PM for folks to have an escape from the frigid temperatures. Here's more info.
