Clay County deputies respond to possible gunshots near Middleburg Parade

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said four people have been detained in connection to the incident.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla — The Clay County Sheriff's Office is investigating after apparent gunshots were heard near the Middleburg Parade on Saturday. 

Deputies working the parade heard the noise and immediately responded. Four people were detained in connection to the incident, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

There were no reported injuries or threats to the community, and the incident appears to be isolated, according to deputies.

"We are thankful for the quick response by the deputies in the area who rushed towards the sound of gunfire to keep our community safe," said the Clay County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.

Right now, it's unclear if the noises deputies heard, were in fact gunshots.

The incident was reported through the county's SaferWatch Alert app, which gives residents the ability to report incidents directly to law enforcement.

On Tuesday, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook urged residents to get the SaferWatch app in case they needed to report anything over the busy weekend, which had 12 events scheduled on Saturday alone.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said it will provide additional information about the incident as it becomes available.
