JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Wednesday night city leaders provided updates on dozens of Downtown Jacksonville developments.
Phase 1 of a new skate park in Riverside is expected to be finished this spring.
On the Northbank, phase 1 of Riverfront Plaza is expected to be complete in late 2025.
Further east on the Northbank, Civitas was awarded the design contract for Metropolitan Park.
In LaVilla, Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Park is expected to be finished in 2024.
Of the dozens of projects, some are fully funded, while others are not, according to Downtown Investment Authority CEO, Lori Boyer.
Despite needing additional funds, she and others believe these projects won’t just be another rendering.
“That’s not going to happen. I’m very focused on making sure these projects get done also making sure they get done right," Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan said.
Mayor Deegan said these projects are designed to attract families and more people to downtown.
Boyer pointed to the recently opened Friendship Fountain as proof.
“When you build those things and provide that people come," Boyer said.
