City seeking public opinion during open house on future of Metropolitan Park

This marks the second open house the city has held for the Metropolitan Park revitalization project.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The community is invited to attend an open house to learn more about the revitalization of Metropolitan Park in Downtown Jacksonville.

During the public open house set for Tuesday, community members can attend design presentations and give feedback on the plans to the Metropolitan Park Revitalization team, a city release states.

The design firm Civitas is spearheading the renovation of the 18-acre park.

There will be two conceptual design presentations: one at 3:30 p.m. and another at 6 p.m., where attendees can meet directly with the design team responsible for the revitalization.

"Whether you're passionate about green spaces, recreational facilities, cultural events, or sustainable landscaping, we want to hear what matters most to you," the city said in the release. "We believe that community input is invaluable in creating a space that reflects the needs and dreams of its users."

The city added the event is another opportunity for community members to give input that will "directly influence" the design and programming of the park.

Metropolitan Park is located at 1410 Gator Bowl Blvd., a space the city said is one of the "most cherished public spaces" in Jacksonville.

"As we embark on this journey to revitalize the park, it's crucial that we come together as a community to ensure the park serves future generations as effectively as it has served us," the release states.

The open house will be held Tuesday at the Main Library located at 303 N. Laura St. in Downtown Jacksonville from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This marks the second open house the city has held for the Metropolitan Park revitalization project, with the last held on April 17.
