ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The two children caught in the middle of a violent marriage that ended in a double murder are still waiting to learn where they'll go next.
On Friday, a St. John's County judge continued a case for custody of those two children meaning a decision won't come before Monday.
The children's mother, Amanda Cloaninger, and family friend Lindy Dobbins, were shot inside Cloaninger's home in St. Johns County on Thursday.
Police say the children's father, James Colley Jr., shot the two women after a court hearing earlier in the day.
Colley had filed for the couple to divorce.
Colley's uncle told First Coast News on Friday that the family is in shock and never expected anything like this to happen.
Police in Virginia arrested Colley Thursday night after a woman there called 911 to report a reckless driver. When police pulled over that car and ran the license plate number, they learned of the warrant out for Colley's arrest.
Colley and Cloaninger's two children will remain in state custody over the weekend.
