JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A stray Labrador with three legs that a local shelter was recently hit by a car is recovering and available for adoption.
Cheese is a Labrador and pit bull mix who arrived at Capital Veterinary Specialists recently for treatment. Surgeon Dr. Brett Darrow performed a life-saving surgery to remove one of Cheese's front legs at no cost.
"Currently recovering in a foster home, Cheese is adapting remarkably well to life with three legs. His resilience is inspiring!" a release from Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services said.
