JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Your JEA bill may look different in April.
If you've heard that your JEA bill is going to increase soon, that's actually not the case.
It's true that the base rate on your electric bill is increasing -- by about 4.3%. This will add about $3.50 to that cost.
However, your charges per kilowatt hour will be dropping. The fuel charge is going to be the lowest it has been since November 2021, according to JEA.
So, your cost will actually most likely be lower than your previous bills.
The base rate is going up to help JEA pay for the cost of its investment in Plant Vogtle nuclear plant in Georgia. Plant Vogtle is providing JEA with carbon-free energy to provide to customers.
