Stanton College Preparatory School was placed on a brief Code Yellow lock down Monday afternoon due to a police investigation into a shooting nearby.
The lock down lasted just a quarter of an hour before the school returned to normal operations.
Members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are on scene and investigating the shooting on the 1000 block of W. 12th Street; the school is on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and W. 13th Street just a block away.
A man was shot in the torso and was taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.
There is no suspect information at this time.
