Boil water advisories issued for multiple Georgia counties after Helene

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — Boil water advisories were issued in Georgia Sunday after Hurricane Helene left behind power outages and destruction in its wake.

If your community is under a boil water advisory, you are encouraged to use bottled water and boil all tap water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, etc.

To properly boil water follow these steps:

  • Fill a pot with water
  • Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top
  • Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for at least one minute
  • Turn off the heat source and let the water cool
  • Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage

Residents with private wells that were flooded are also advised to follow boil water advisory protocols. 

Residents should boil their water until they are notified by their utility that water is safe to drink.
