SJSO: Missing 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach swimmer's body found on Ponte Vedra Beach

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office told First Coast News Monday that the teen's body was found on Ponte Vedra Beach near the area of 65 Ponte Vedra Blvd.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The body of a missing 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach swimmer was found on Ponte Vedra Beach Monday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office (SJSO), two days after the teen disappeared.

The sheriff's office told First Coast News the teen's body was found on Ponte Vedra Beach near the area of 65 Ponte Vedra Blvd.

On Saturday, the teen went missing while swimming at Jacksonville Beach. Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue said around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, the teen became distressed in a rip current just north of the lifeguard station.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's Air Unit and Marine Unit, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the search for the 15-year-old boy all day Saturday.

Then on Sunday, authorities transitioned from a search and rescue mission to a recovery one.

Ocean Rescue Captain Rob Emahiser told First Coast News over the weekend, the current the teen was stuck in was pushing south pretty hard.

Officials said the teen was last seen wearing black and red swim trunks, and is described as being 5-foot-8 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds.

SJSO said in an X post the incident is being actively investigated.
