Jacksonville Beach event to bring awareness to suicide prevention

American Legion Post 129 is joining with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for a lifesaver event Sunday from 3-6 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It's an event to shed light on a serious topic. 

On Sunday, American Legion Post 129 will join with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to host a lifesaver event to raise awareness and to register people for October's Out of the Darkness Walk.

Sunday morning Heidi Sotzen and Wendy Mercer joined GMJ for an interview about the event as well as the personal reasons why they raise awareness for suicide prevention efforts.

The lifesaver event is from 3-6 p.m. at American Legion Post 129 at 1151 4th Street S. and is open to the public. 

The Out of the Darkness Walk will be held at Seawalk Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 26, registration is being accepted at afsp.org/jax.
