ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are dead after an early morning head-on crash in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:48 a.m. Tuesday on Williston Road just southwest of Wacahoota Road in Alachua County.
According to a press release from FHP, a car driving south on Williston Road crossed the centerline into the path of a car driving north, causing the two to hit head-on.
A spokesperson with Alachua County Fire Rescue said first responders had to rescue one of the drivers from their car.
Both drivers were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where they were pronounced dead.
