BOISE, Idaho — An "in-flight emergency" prompted a Canadian passenger airplane to make an unscheduled landing at Boise Airport (BOI) Tuesday, though officials did not reveal the manner of emergency.
According to City of Boise, Air Canada Flight #997 was en route to Canada when pilots aboard the plane declared an emergency and were forced to divert to BOI for an unplanned landing.
The Boeing 737 departed from Mexico City, Mexico at roughly 6 a.m. and was scheduled to land in Vancouver, Canada at 10:55 a.m. (local time). According to flight tracking website FlightStats, the flight was rescheduled to depart at 5 p.m. MDT for Vancouver.
The cause of the diversion and specifics of the "in-flight emergency" remain undetermined. However, FlightStats did document an Equipment Adjustment and a change in the flight's tail number at 11:01 a.m.
Boise Airport staff deboarded the plane and assisted passengers through U.S. Customs, according to the city. Border Patrol officials were onsite to help assist with proper entry into the U.S.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 10:43 a.m. where they remained on standby throughout the afternoon. No injuries were reported.
Boise Airport stated in a news release that there were no impacts to airport operations, and that all runways remain open.
