Arlington resident says shooting likely stems from argument with neighbor

The resident told First Coast News his neighbor had complained about him driving too fast down the street fearing he would hit the neighbor's kids.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting in the 8300 block of Galveston Avenue has sent one adult to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue

Stephen Anthony told First Coast News he lives in the home where the shooting happened.

He said he was at work when he got a call this afternoon to rush home because someone had been shot in his yard.

Anthony said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument he had with his neighbor.

First Coast News spoke to Anthony before he was able to get to his house. For that reason, he did not want to get into specifics of who shot who.

Anthony told us his neighbor had complained about him driving too fast down the street fearing he would hit the neighbor's kids.

Anthony said his neighbor had sent him threatening messages about his speeding.

But, Anthony said he always slowed down when he saw kids in the area.

“It’s a shame where things have to go nowadays with people so hopefully, I don’t wish nothing bad on nobody you know hopefully the guy is okay and hopefully everything can be settled and let go after this no problems," Anthony said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has not provided any details about the shooting as of yet.

Woodland Acres Elementary, just a street over from where the shooting occurred, can be seen in the below video having dismissal. Duval County Schools told First Coast News the school was not put on lockdown.
