Two abandoned homes catch fire on Jacksonville's Eastside

The fire was most likely caused by squatters, a JFRD captain told First Coast News.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two abandoned houses caught fire early Thursday morning on Jacksonville's Eastside, officials said.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews responded to the 1000 block of Phelps Street around 4:50 a.m. where two homes were on fire. The fire was most likely caused by squatters, a JFRD captain told First Coast News. The home where the flames began does not have electricity. 

No injuries have been reported at this time, according to officials.
