ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A popular St. Augustine restaurant across from the Bridge of Lions is closing its doors after Memorial Day.

Located at 1 King St., A1A Ale Works posted on Facebook the closure would take effect May 26. Hundreds of people responded on social media to remember and support the restaurant.

"With a heavy heart, we announce the closure of A1A Ale Works on May 26. We are grateful for your loyalty and invite you to say goodbye in the coming days," the restaurant owners posted.

The restaurant's loyalty program ended March 19, according to its website.

"In lieu of your rewards, we would like to offer you a certificate for the balance of your current rewards account. To receive your certificate, please email guestexperience@spbhospitality.com. We appreciate your dedication and support over the years and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank You."

A1A Ale Works closed its brewery in 2021. The Florida Times-Union reported there were rumors the lease would not be renewed three years ago, but it didn't come to fruition.

A1A Ale Works is owned by SPB Hospitality, which also has local restaurants Ragtime Tavern, Seafood & Grille in Neptune Beach and Seven Bridges Grille & Brewery on the Southside as part of its portfolio.
