JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A person and a dog is dead after a single-vehicle crash and fire occurred along the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At approximately 10:35 a.m., a blue sedan was traveling north on Interstate 295 on the Buckman Bridge, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle caught fire, an FHP report states.
"The sole occupant of the vehicle was unable to get out" and was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP report reveals.
FHP troopers say the two left northbound lanes were blocked on the bridge for hours, which caused heavy traffic delays in the area on Thursday.
