FOLKSTON, Ga. — The frantic 911 calls made during two shootings in Folkston, Ga. that left one woman dead and four other people injured were released Tuesday.
The caller told 911 dispatch that a woman was found lying on the ground after the shooting at the American Legion off of Highway 121 early Sunday morning. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said that shooting happened at around 3:21 a.m.
"We leavin' and they shootin' and then we see somebody on the ground over there," the caller said, saying the shooting happened as people were leaving a party. "Oh my god. She layin' on the ground!"
More voices, yells and car horns could be heard in the background as the dispatcher asked the caller if the woman on the ground was breathing or has been shot.
"Yes, she has [been shot]!" the caller yelled, distressed.
One woman could be heard yelling among car horns, "They said don't move her! They said don't move her!"
More chaos ensued as screams and sirens could be heard and the caller yelled, "Y'all move her! She got a bullet in her!"
A few minutes into the call, police finally arrived, the caller said.
"Ma'am, the police is here," the caller said. "They tried to take her to the hospital in the back of a car, and the police is here."
The shooting at the American Legion resulted in the death of Sheeyta Elaine Herrin, 21, from Camden County.
Two other females were shot and sustained minor injuries.
Minutes later, 911 calls came in about a shooting at the Flash Foods located off of US-1. That shooting resulted in two males being shot with minor injuries as well.
"We got guns firing at Flash Foods," the caller said.
Another caller yelled, "Shots fired! We got shots fired at Flash Foods!"
It has not been ruled out that the two incidents are connected.
