WAYCROSS, Ga. — Monday, as Debby swept bands of rain through Waycross, Charlie Moore got a call... from Debby.
“We get a call from the neighbor, oddly enough my sweet neighbor next door’s name is Debby," Moore said.
It was about Debby.
“She said the tree that had been leaning this way had fallen," Moore said.
Moore ran outside his home and took a picture of a 60-foot pine tree, leaning against another tree, right above his pool.
“[I] turned and walked away and hear a loud crack," Moore said.
The tree crashed through his lanai and into his pool.
“Guess best case scenario for a tree falling. I mean, I can replace a pool cover," Moore said.
Moore thinks saturation led to the tree falling and said Debby has brought a lot more rain than wind.
Tuesday, he's keeping his eyes open as more rain is expected Tuesday.
“This is an older neighborhood and so I don’t know how old these trees are but there’s plenty of them that exceed 60-70 feet, and I don’t know that it takes that much wind but enough working around that they just fall over," Moore said.
