ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Four students were arrested Wednesday on charges related to an August drug deal gone bad and a missing gun. Three of the individuals were arrested at Nease High School.
All four are juveniles, according to St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Catherine Payne. Three are Nease students and one is a homeschooled student. Two were charged with misdemeanors and their names are being withheld. Two were charged with felonies; Brendan Kuts was charged with tampering with evidence and Kevin Diedrick was charged with dealing in stolen property, tampering with evidence and violation of probation.
Last month, Taylor Davidson, 18, and Dylan Medlin, 19, were arrested in connection with the same incident. Medlin is charged with two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly pulling a gun on August 30 while trying to sell marijuana to three juveniles outside of Palencia Elementary School after school hours.
Medlin was also charged with armed trespassing on school property and dangerous display of a weapon. Davidson was charged with trespassing on school property. Medlin and Davidson graduated from another school last year, Payne said.
Police believe thejuveniles intendedto robMedlin. Davidson accompanied Medlin by car to the school to sell the drugs,Payne said.
According to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office offense report, one of the juveniles said Medlin told them the price was $20 a gram, which they thought was too expensive and said they would not buy it. Another juvenile told police that he told Medlin that he was going to "snatch the dope."
The initial juvenile mentioned claimed to policeMedlin said "you don't know who you are (expletive) with" and pointed a gun out of the car. The juveniletold investigators they began running through Pirate Ship Park. Medlin caught up with them and started swinging the gun at them, according to the juvenile.
According to several of the juveniles' accounts, a physical altercation ensued. One of the juveniles was able to disarm Medlin and they threw the gun in the woods, according to the report.
The gun, which was reported missing from 70 S. Roscoe Boulevard, Ponte Vedra, as part of a burglary investigation on July 30, was retrieved from the woods by a juvenile who knew of the incident, but had no involvement. The gun was sold to Tyler Skelly, 19, for some marijuana, according to the report.
Skelly's attorney assisted in the case and returned the gun to detectives, according to Payne.
