Woman killed in Columbia County crash identified as Lake City school employee, owner says

The owner of Cambridge Prep Academy in Lake City confirmed that Alyssa Keller, 28, a member of the preschool program, was killed in a crash Friday morning.

NOCATEE, Fla. — The 28-year-old woman killed in a crash in Columbia County Friday morning was employed at Cambridge Prep Academy in Lake City, according to the school's owner.

Alyssa Keller, 28, was an employee and parent of Cambridge Prep Academy, a private Christian school for grades K-12, the school's owner and administrator Jackie Britt confirmed to First Coast News.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old woman was driving north on State Road 47 Friday morning with her three children in the vehicle when for an unknown reason, it traveled off the road and into the east shoulder.

After the driver overcorrected the vehicle, it crashed into a tree and overturned, leaving it lying on its roof.

FHP said the driver died at the scene and all three children, including an infant, were taken to Shands Hospital.

Two of the children, an 8-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries, whereas the infant sustained minor injuries, according to FHP.

Britt told First Coast News that all of Keller's children attend Cambridge Prep Academy, where she was employed with the preschool program.

Keller will be honored with a memorial at the school, Britt said, adding whenever a funeral date is set, the school will close early so all staff can attend.
