ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A 27-year-old man is dead after a pedestrian-related crash on US-1 Sunday morning in St. Johns County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A crash report said an SUV was traveling southbound on US-1 just south of Shore Drive around 12:12 a.m., when the victim entered the road directly into the path of the vehicle.
Due to this collision, the report said, the victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Flagler Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office confirmed to First Coast News that the vehicle involved was one of its patrol vehicles.
FHP is handling the investigation into the crash.
