ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were rescued from a sinking boat in the St. Johns River Saturday afternoon, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
Officials said units from the West Battalion and Marine Rescue Division responded to a vessel in distress one mile north of the Shands Bridge.
When crews arrived, they found two people in the water. Firefighters rescued the passengers who officials said were pulled away from their sinking boat due to the current.
The people were returned to shore with no injuries. Officials said the boat is being recovered by a private company.
