JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fifteen people were displaced from their homes Sunday after multiple apartment units were affected by fire and smoke in Arlington. No one was injured in the fire.
According to the American Red Cross, volunteers helped 15 people who were affected by the fire on the 7000 block of Arlington Expressway. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said of the 15 people affected, one was a child.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations, according to JFRD.
The Red Cross is helping the people affected by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, lodging and helping replace any medication that could have been lost in the fire. Mental health support is also being provided.
The North Florida Region of the American Red Cross has assisted 31 families affected by house fires just since Thanksgiving.
