13-year-old dies in Baker County fire, cause under investigation

Deputies said the initial investigation suggests the fire was started by a space heater, but the official cause remains under investigation.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — A 13-year-old girl is dead after a camper in Baker County caught fire Wednesday morning. According to the Baker County Sheriff's Office, deputies and members of Baker County Fire & Rescue responded to a fire near Orbey Rhoden Road in Glen St. Mary's early Wednesday and found a camper engulfed in flames. 

There were occupants inside the camper who escaped with no injuries, but a 13-year-old girl was killed in the fire. 

Members of the State Fire Marshal's Office also responded to investigate the cause of the fire.

Deputies said the initial investigation suggests the fire was started by a space heater that was inside the camper, but the official cause remains under investigation.
